Terms
releasedapp.org is a free service built from open-source code and paid for by donations. These terms exist so that both of us know what to expect. They are short because the service is.
What you get
A watchlist of packages, a dashboard, an MCP server your coding agent can use, and an optional daily email. All of it free. There is no paid tier, no trial, and nothing that unlocks later.
The code is licensed under MIT. If you would rather not depend on this instance, you can run your own; the repository explains how.
What we promise, and what we do not
We promise to run the service honestly: to store only what the privacy page says, to never sell your data or show you ads, and to tell you if something changes that affects you.
We do not promise uptime, accuracy, or continuity. The service is offered as is. Package registries change their APIs, crawls miss things, a digest may arrive late or not at all. releasedapp is a signal to go read a changelog, not a substitute for reading it — do not ship an upgrade because an email said a version exists.
To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for anything that follows from using or not being able to use the service. If that is not enough assurance for your situation, the answer is to self-host.
What we ask of you
- One account per person, signed in with your own GitHub account.
- Do not use the service to hammer the package registries or this one. The crawl is rate-limited on purpose; so is everything else. Accounts that abuse it may be suspended, with a note explaining why.
- Agents act as you. What your agent does with your watchlist is yours.
- Report security problems privately, as the repository's
SECURITY.mdasks.
Donations
The service costs money to run. Donations pay for that and nothing else; they buy no features, no priority and no influence over what gets built. If you donate, thank you — and if you stop, nothing changes for your account.
Sponsors are named on the site, with a line saying what their contribution covers — the hosting, the domain, a month of email. That acknowledgement is the only form of promotion releasedapp carries. There are no ads, no sponsored placements in the dashboard or the digest, and no sponsor is ever told who uses the service.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and it is gone at once. We can suspend an account that breaks the rules above, and we can stop running the service — if that ever happens, we will say so on the site and in the repository with enough notice to export your watchlist, and the code will still be there to run yourself.
Changes
These terms are versioned with the code. Material changes will be announced on the site; the history is in the repository.
